I made it to Malawi! This place is nuts. Ive been learning a bit of the lingo (Chabwino= all good), and have walking the streets and markets in the capital Lilongwe. There are people absolutely everywhere, even down there, and up there, and over there. All smiles so far, good reggae, friendly people, strange food, wickedly rustic markets (everything from old pushbike bearings to dodgy dvds to used undies to big ass pocket knives to beautiful materials to aluminium free under arm deoderants....yep). So the unnoficial guide to this place is to expect things not to go as planned, keep your wits and a calm grin, have a book handy (as the beurocrats require some patient waiting to achieve your desires), expect things to run out (including diesel...and even beer I hear...hmf) and to pretty much be friendly or you WILL be frustrated. I get picked up tomorrow to go down to Zomba town to get settled and start work on monday...no photos as yet as I am still working out some ettiquite issues...
